Situated in Lucena, a small coastal town in northeastern Brazil, Apôitchá is a Brazilian NGO established by education, psychology and arts professionals, to support children and adolescents in the face of increasing social vulnerability. Activities include three projects: A Roda Do Sol (the sun circle): residential accommodation for children and adolescents who are living with HIV or are the victims of domestic violence; Rede Participava (participative network): workshops in basic literacy, music, theatre, art; and the Apôitchecos puppet theatre.
Your role will be to strengthen Apôitchá"s communications strategies and develop its institutional image, so that it can better demonstrate the effectiveness of art and education in the fight for children and adolescents" rights. You will help develop tools and systems for internal/extermal communication, identify and participate in networks and fourums, develop promotional materials including the website, and where possible, participate directly in communications workshops (skills in serigraphy/theatre/puppetry/music an advantage).
You should have a background in communications and experience (ideally in a Latin American context) of working with children/adolescents at a grassroots level, together with a highly flexible, adaptable and participative approach and good Portuguese and/or Spanish. (REF: BRA/48)
